During the months of April to May 2017, Childline Kenya, Action Network for the Disabled(ANDY) and St. Joseph Community Based Organization(CBO) launched their fundraising drives with support from Yetu.
ChildLine Kenya- #ShineALightKE Campaign ChildLine’s ShineALightKE campaign was launched on 29th March 2017. The campaign is a call to arms for Kenyans to rally together to fight child abuse and be a ray of hope to those in need. Led by Rita Munyae, the campaign team also released a report that focused on the current state of child abuse in Kenya. The campaign attracted media attention from all leading stations including KTN, Nation, and Citizen. Furthermore, George Kidenda, ChildLine Kenya’s acting executive director was hosted live on KTN.
Several businesses including Microsoft, Lions Groups Kenya and Teachers Service Commission pledged their support in form of partnerships.
The fundraising campaign has been featured on both Radio, TV and in Newspaper adverts as part of their partnership with the Nation Media Group. Grace Msalame, who is a renowned media personality is the campaign ambassador. The campaign is currently running online adverts thanks to a grant from Google and Facebook.

ANDY Kenya-#NikoEducatable Campaign
#NikoEducatable is a fundraising campaign that aims to support Kenyan Children with Disabilities to access basic education. The campaign aims to raise 9 Million for 90 Children in 90 Days.
Since its launch in early May 2017, this campaign by ANDY has received wide media publicity.Additionally, the NikoEducatable campaign partnered with KTN and have so far benefited from TV adverts running throughout the month of June.
Consistent with Yetu’s research finding that revealed radio as one of the popular media of communication, the Nikoeducatable team has also actively pushed its agenda through the radio stations. Regina Mugure, the face of the campaign has used these and other opportunities to engage the public in a donations drive. Masawe Jappani, an influential media personality, has joined the NikoEducatable campaign as one of their ambassadors. They are currently organizing a business breakfast and pursuing partnership deals with several corporates.

St. Joseph CBO-#ActionforOrphans Campaign
#ActionforOrphans is a fundraising campaign that seeks to secure the livelihoods of 100 Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) in Nyeri and its neighboring Counties. Funds raised will support beneficiaries through a two-year vocational training and purchase of business start-up kits upon graduation at a cost of KES 150,000.
After a successful launch in Nyeri on 10th May 2017, the #ActionforOrphans campaigns has had several events and activities in a bid to drive donations as well as create awareness on the plight of orphans. Brother Harun, who is spearheading the campaign has appeared on several community radio stations namely Inooro, Radio Maria and Gukena FM to publicize the campaign and mobilise support from the community. On 26th June 2017, the campaign held a successful children’s fun day at the Kamkunji grounds in Nyeri which had an attendance of over 2000. The event saw several corporates partnering with St. Joseph for the event including 20 corporates who purchased tables for the exhibition. St. Joseph’s is now at the initial stages of planning for a cultural night.
